My first 13.1!

May 27th, 2007

So running is not my forte. Let’s rephrase that, distance running is not my forte. I can run all around the soccer field all day with no problems. Sure, my age is catching up with me and if I’m not playing regularly I’m quite sore the next day.

Last year my wife and I plus three others did the Burlington Marathon Relay. It was fun and easy as all I had was a 6 mile leg (which was the longest of the legs in the relay). Anyway, this year we lost a runner and decided to create two teams. This meant I had to run 13.1 rather than just 6.

Since ASC is all done! What’s next? And where to ski?

May 27th, 2007

Yeah, I know it’s just about summer, but it’s only a few months until ski season. And I know the blog has been neglected, but what can I do.

Since I’ve been an ASC passholder for the last… ah… 10+ years, I’m not sure what to do. Big K is so close, but we all know the best snow hits up north. Do I spend a Sh!t load and get a Stowe pass? You know I want it, bad. Should I spend less and get a pass at da Bush? Maybe even Mad River? It will be revealed at some point.

Two down and how many more to go?

February 16th, 2007

ASC has officially sold Mount Snow and Attitash. See here for the official filings.

Will Killington/Pico be next? What about those resorts in Maine? Will Maine get back Sunday River and Sugarloaf?

ASC says they are working to ensure those with the All East passes can use them through the end of the season.

Snow returns as the B2EG Crew readies for Utah

February 11th, 2007

The east is finally getting some snow. Most of the northern areas finally have enough snow to ski the “off map” shots with confidence. Doppler Scott is watching the coming storm system in hopes it tracks north and slams Vermont and New Hampshire. Killington and some of the other not so northern ski areas sure could use a foot of fresh. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to sample on Thursday in preparation for the annual Utah trip.

Only in Maine - skier hits deer or vice versa

February 6th, 2007

Yeah, your reading correctly, Dr. Ray was minding his own skiing at Sugarloaf USA when out of no where he was struck by a deer.

Get the full story here.

Speaking of deer - my father was hit by a deer while on a training ride a number of years back. He was lucky too as the deer tried to jump over him while crossing the road. The deer’s hoof caught him in the head and tossed him off his bike into the shoulder. The deer didn’t even hesitate as it continued into the woods. All my dad was left with was a great story, a bit of a head ache and a cycling helmet with a large gash in the side.
